I received this email this morning from one of the co-Director of the Tour de Forts ride…
On behalf of Ride Co-Directors Wayne Ezell and David Townley, HAM Coordinator Michael Hendershot and myself, I would like to extend a sincere thank you and well done for your volunteer service as HAM providing command and control support for our 24th Annual Tour de Forts ride last Sunday. The SAG’s are literally where the rubber meets the road in protecting our riders, of which there were 655 this year.
Without HAM ride-along support the SAG’s are effectively blind and far less effective than with that support.
At the end of the day, you and several others stayed almost an hour late, covering the finish of the final ten Century Riders. Among those riders was Jim Ingham, NFBC travel Team Leader, who had been delayed because he stayed with an exhausted rider awaiting transport for about an hour. Also among those was a lady from Tallahassee on her first Century Ride ever. Your patience and selfless dedication allowed her to prevail and the other riders to give her the support that she needed. Below, is a copy of her email.
Each of you is invited to the TdF Volunteer Appreciation Lunch from 1-3 pm, Saturday, May 30 at Al’s Pizza, 11190 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville. Please RSVP to Wayne Ezell at wezell@bellsouth.net so that he will have an accurate attendance count.
In Navy language, you earned a big BRAVO ZULU!
Ride swift and safe,
Jeff Hohlstein
BRAVO ZULU to everyone who participated!!!
